Sussex Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus

Ignite's team is perfect for planning and staging events to mark a special anniversary or milestone. The Sussex Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (SASBAH) recently it celebrated its 50th anniversary. Ignite's Bev Thompson is the charity's proud President, and funded by a Lottery grant, Peter Lindsey was in charge of the celebrations.

The aim was to stage a series of events throughout Sussex to raise the profile of SASBAH. But it wasn't just about profile; it was including the charity's members, making them feel valued, and creating something sustainable for the future.

Peter, Bev and the SASBAH team organised activities throughout the year to celebrate the anniversary. These included:

  • A high profile exhibition at the Towner Gallery in Eastbourne, featuring photographs by Ignite’s Helen Tinner and craft work by the charity’s service users.

  • The appointment of SASBAH Ambassadors, including ITV Meridian television newsreader Sangeeta Bhabra,, the famous weatherman Michael Fish, Stephen Lloyd MP and the BBC's Ian Palmer.

  • Charity fundraising dinner attended by more than 200 guests.

  • New refreshed branding for the charity.

Rom Sanglaji, CEO of SASBAH, said: "It was a very successful and enjoyable year celebrating our very special anniversary. The amount of publicity Peter and Bev created, both online and in print, was amazing, and we can't thank them enough."
